Angela Mercado is a Sr. Director at RELI Group, where she brings two decades of experience in digital services, health IT and human-centered design. She is passionate about connecting people to the services and information they need, a thread that runs throughout her career in federal consulting.
Her Federal Health IT experience spans numerous programs within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and its staff and operating divisions. She has led initiatives in cybersecurity, privacy, communications and digital transformation in support of public health programs, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Early in her career, she earned a ClearMark award from the Center for Plain Language for her rewrite of HHS’s Flu.gov, helping millions of citizens access critical health information more easily.
Angela’s career reflects a balance of technology strategy and user-centered service delivery. In addition to her health IT leadership, she has driven high-visibility customer experience efforts, such as the design and implementation of the Transportation Security Administration’s customer experience strategy, which earned a 2021 Service to the Citizen Award. Prior to her consulting career, she supported the U.S. House of Representatives as a web content developer and reference assistant.
Today, Angela continues to shape federal health IT and digital modernization efforts, applying her expertise in human-centered design, communications and change management to improve how citizens and federal employees experience government services.
