Can you share a pivotal moment in your career that influenced your path in government contracting?
I came into government consulting after spending years in the commercial space. I was ready for a change and began exploring opportunities in the Baltimore area, where government contracting is a major presence. Joining a small business required rapid adaptation, but I was also able to bring in my commercial experience and apply a different problem-solving lens. That blend helped me grow and strengthened my focus on mission-driven work that impacts real people.
What drives your passion for working in government contracting?
It’s the real-world impact. Early in my career, I didn’t fully understand how much government programs influence day-to-day life. That changed when I began supporting agencies like the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). With TSA in particular, the mission to prevent another 9/11 is deeply felt. That purpose and commitment drive me to support our clients in every way possible.
How do you approach leadership and team building?
I’ve learned to lead with trust. People thrive when they are empowered to own their work, make mistakes and learn from them. That kind of environment fosters growth. I also prioritize team connection. We meet regularly, share updates and create space for collaboration. Even in a remote setting, those touchpoints matter. I’m proud of the work we do, but it’s really my team that drives our success.
What innovations or trends in the government sector excite you the most?
I’m excited to see more interagency collaboration. With tighter budgets and overlapping responsibilities, the siloed approach just doesn’t work anymore. There’s also so much data out there, often the same data held by different agencies, and we need to do a better job of sharing and using it effectively. AI is part of that conversation, but like any tool, its value depends on how strong the data foundation is. When agencies can align around that foundation, it opens the door to more informed decisions and efficient operations.
Can you discuss a project or initiative you’re particularly proud of?
What I’m most proud of is the consistent quality my team delivers. It’s not about one project, it’s about showing up every day and staying focused on excellence. That commitment is what builds trust with our clients and keeps us moving forward.
